The 4 Star Radisson Blu is a sleek, modern design, luxury hotel which sits right on the banks of the River Shannon and comes with its own top of the range health and leisure centre.

THE ACCOMMODATION:

They have a total of 128 stylish rooms and suites ranging from standard rooms through superior rooms and on to junior and full suites. They are all doubles with the exception of the family rooms which can host up to four in two separate sleeping quarters, one with a king size bed and one with two singles. The rooms are all very spacious and well appointed, the superior rooms are slightly larger at 25 m², have views of the river/marina and, last but not least for some, also have Nespresso coffee machines along side the standard kettle.

The junior suites are even more spacious at 35 m², have separate seating areas and most of them (but not all, check the booking page!), also have views of the river. The full suites then are the premium choice at the Radisson, Athlone with an extra 15 m² of space and the best views of all.

FACILITIES:

Their generous buffet breakfast is served up in the Elements Bistro which does a range of great food throughout the day too. Then there is the Quayside Bar Lounge which can get quite lively come the evening and has a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the marina.

The Synergy Health and Leisure Club at the Radisson Blu is a top class facility in its own right which guests have free access to. There, amongst other things, you’ll find a heated indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre & gym, and a sauna.

Children will be looked after here, more than in most hotels, with plenty of activities for them, free children’s meals and also babysitting/child minding services on offer

The business centre at the Radisson has 9 conference spaces with space for up to 700 delegates and its own Meeting & Events co-ordinator who can arrange such things as audiovisual equipment and catering services etc.

There is a concierge service at the hotel as well as a 24 hour reception, 24 hour room service and on-site parking.

THE LOCATION:

The hotel has a great location right by the banks of the River Shannon, and the marina, in the town centre, about 10 minutes’ walk from the train station.

There are many nice bars and restaurants around the marina and along the riverside, and you are within walking distance to all the town has to offer including the 12th century Athlone Castle, the Luan Gallery, as well as various shopping and entertainment.

There is a concierge service at the hotel to offer advice and recommendations as to what to see and do in the town and to arrange such things as boat trips along the Shannon, bike tours and visits to local historical and cultural sites.
